Het toenemende geweld naar spoorwegpersoneel loopt de spuigaten uit. Als reactie hierop heeft het kabinet 13,3 miljoen euro vrijgemaakt om kleine en middelgrote stations beter te beveiligen. Hiermee zouden er onder andere 776 nieuwe beveiligingscamera’s aangeschaft worden. ProRail is er echter niet in geslaagd om een geschikte CCTV camera leverancier te vinden.
Het installeren van een CCTV camera op elk station zou het eerste kwartaal van 2016 starten. De aanbesteding omvatte 776 nieuwe beveiligingscamera’s. Dit gaat voorlopig niet door. Gelukkig komt er volgens ProRail van uitstel geen afstel en zal er een nieuwe aanbesteding uitgezet worden. Het gaat hierbij om meerdere maatregelen om geweldsmisdrijven op en rondom het spoor tegen te gaan.
CCTV camera op het spoor
De maatregelen om incidenten op het spoor tegen te gaan worden op dertig kleine tot middelgrote stations ingezet. Waaronder Tilburg, Amsterdam Sloterdijk en Rotterdam Zuid. Op de grotere stations zoals Rotterdam Centraal of Amsterdam centraal is al een beveiligingscamera aanwezig. Om het effect te vergroten en geweldsincidenten tegen te gaan is ProRail afgelopen zomer gestart met een proef met beeldschermen. Mensen op het spoor kunnen op de beeldschermen precies zien wat er geregistreerd en opgenomen wordt. Zo zien de reizigers niet alleen wat zij doen, maar ook wat er op het spoor gebeurt. Daarnaast kan dit afschrikwekkend werken. De resultaten van deze proef worden komende zomer gemeten. Deze meting zal uitwijzen of de inzet van beeldschermen effectief is geweest en in hoeverre een CCTV camera invloed heeft op de sociale veiligheid.
ProRail houdt het niet bij een CCTV beveiligingscamera alleen. Er wordt ook meer personeel ingezet op late treinen, en er is extra politie op stations bijgekomen. Daarnaast zijn buitengewoon opsporingsambtenaren sinds 1 mei 2015 bevoegd om overlastgevers een stationverbod op te leggen. Een fijne ontwikkeling!
